SUBJECT: <br />ENERGY/EMISSION REDUCTION GOALS <br />DATE: <br />J U LY 30, 2019 <br />PAGE4OF4 <br />on progress made. The City can utilize existing communication channels to share the <br />proposed goals. Additional communication/transparency strategies include: <br />• Develop visual aids to educate employees and community members on <br />proposed goals and display at City facilities and events. <br />• Work with City staff to explore communication/engagement tools or opportunities <br />to share goals with employees, residents and businesses. <br />• Report on municipal and community progress annually and distribute through the <br />City's communication platforms. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />While adoption of the proposed goals does not have a financial impact, the strategies to <br />achieve those goals will. Proposed projects with a fiscal impact will be brought forward <br />to City Council through the annual budget process. <br />PROGRAM/SUB-PROGRAM IMPACT: <br />The development of municipal and community energy and emissions reduction goals <br />supports the Sustainability Sub -Program by using environmental, economic and human <br />resources to meet present and future needs without compromising the ecosystems on <br />which we depend. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Discussion/Direction — If Council finds these goals acceptable staff will bring back a <br />resolution setting renewable energy and carbon emission reduction goals at a regular <br />meeting for adoption on the consent agenda. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />1.
