Varra/Sheets Family Ownership of Property, 1948-1960
In 1948, Albert Varra (1902-1973) and Elizabeth Varra (1912-2008) purchased Lot 8, 9, and 10,
consisting of both 533 and 537 Lincoln. They lived elsewhere in the area. The 1952-53 directory
for Louisville indicates that their daughter, Mary Ann (b. 1935), and her husband, Houston
Sheets, Jr. (b. 1928), resided at 537 Lincoln, while Charles V. Davis resided at 533 Lincoln at that
time.
In 1955, the Varras conveyed actual ownership of the parcel and the two houses to their
daughter and her husband (Mary Ann and Houston Sheets, Jr.).
Davis Ownership, 1960-1998
In 1960, Grover Davis (1931-2013) and Ramona Davis (b. 1930) purchased 537 and 533 Lincoln
from the Sheets family. Records indicate that they lived at 537 Lincoln during much or all of
their ownership. Reverse directories from the 1970s until 1990 show that the residents of 533
Lincoln at those times were the sons of Grover and Ramona Davis: Howard K. Davis (from about
1977 to about 1982), then Paul Davis (from 1983 until at least 1990). In 1998, the Davises sold
the two houses, on the three lots, to James Boyer and Laurie Boyer.
Boyer Ownership and Replat, 1998-2012
After having purchased 533 and 537 Lincoln in 1998, James and Laurie Boyer then sought to
divide the property in 2004. Records indicate that 537 Lincoln became Lot 1, Acme Place Replat
A, and that 533 Lincoln became Lot 2, Acme Place Replat A. James Boyer became the owner of
Lot 1 (537 Lincoln) and Laurie Boyer became the owner of Lot 2 (533 Lincoln). She sold 533
Lincoln in 2012 to Charles Alan McDaniel III and Olivia F. McDaniel. They are the current owners
of record.
The preceding research is based on a review of relevant and available online County property records, census
records, oral history interviews, Louisville directories, and Louisville Historical Museum maps, files, and obituary
records.
5
