Other Owners, 1972-1985
Between 1972 and 1985, the house had a succession of owners, named here: Kelly &
Susan Johnston; John & Dorothy Johnston; Richard W. Ferguson; David & Pamela
Carver; James P. Greenberg; and Charles & Jacqueline Smith.
This photo from the collection of the Louisville Historical Museum shows 823 Garfield,
likely in the 1980s, but the exact year is unknown.
Knutson Family Ownership, 1985-Current
Ron and Linda Knutson purchased 823 Garfield in 1985. They are the current owners.
1985 Historic Survey of 823 Garfield
In 1985, Steven F. Mehls and Carol Drake Mehls of Western Historical Studies completed
a Historic Building Inventory Record on the building at 823 Garfield and on selected
other historic building in Louisville, according to the standards of the Colorado Historical
Society. The condition was deemed "good" and the extent of alterations were deemed
"minor." The year of construction was stated as 1910. The architect was named as
having been Mr. Unger. The following is a transcription of the relevant text.
Architectural Description: "This is a 1 %2 story Edwardian vernacular frame house with
front gables & a 1 story porch across the front facade. The house has a rectangular
footprint on concrete foundation/basement with closed in windows. The east and south
elevations have bay windows. There is a full front porch. The doors and windows are in
original location, not originals. The house has gabled roof with shake shingles. Rear
inaccessible due to large dog."
5
