City Council Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 4, 2008 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br /> <br />Elari stated that he does not feel the program should be supported. The money would be <br />better spent having the City talk to business members one-on-one. <br /> <br />Pritchard stated that the program needs to continue and that money should be focused <br />on marketing, particularly print marketing, of the program to the entire community. <br /> <br />Menaker noted that something that markets Louisville businesses to the large employers <br />and the new home owners in town would be useful. Use the program to introduce the <br />community to new employees and new residents. <br /> <br />Hogan reviewed the budget conversation. The Committee is comfortable with the <br />general budget, search engine optimization should continue, and Shop Louisville should <br />be a priority for 2009 funding. <br /> <br />Yarnell added that a future goal should be a comprehensive business directory of all <br />businesses in town. The Chamber directory lists only its members. <br /> <br />Update - Economic Development Structure Round Table – Forum Set for the <br />th <br />October 6, BRaD meeting <br />Hogan stated that the goal of the October Round Table will be to learn how other cities <br />do business retention and development adding that the general options are a <br />public/private partnership, municipal economic development, or an entirely separate <br />entity. She stated that representatives from metro area organizations that fit these <br />categories will be participating in the forum. <br /> <br />Refresher – Code of Ethics <br />Hogan briefly went over the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation’s Code <br />of Ethics highlighting the section stating that members will not actively recruit businesses <br />from other communities.
