Mr. Caranci thanked the Mayor and Council for their recognition and stated it was a pleasure to work and live in Louisville. RECOGNITION OF NANCY VARRA AS THE COLORADO MUNICIPAL CLERK'S ASSOCIATION CLERK OF THE YEAR Louisville City Clerk Nancy Varra was awarded the Colorado Municipal Clerk's Association (CMCA) Clerk of the Year Award. Mr.. Susan Phillips, Past President of CMCA, and City Clerk for the City of Greenwood Village, presented the award to Nancy. The Council congratulated Nancy and thanked her for her service to the City. City Clerk Varra expressed her thanks the City Manager's office, Mayor Pro Tem Marsella, the Mayor and City Council and the residents of Louisville. RECOGNITION OF SENIOR CENTER STAFF The City Council recognized Senior Center Staff members Selena Jaramillo and Katie Beasley who were awarded a Create Our Future Award from the Boulder County Aging Services Division. Ms. Jaramillo was recognized for advocating affordable, appropriate, and accessible housing far seniors in conjunction with the Louisville Senior Advisory Board Housing Focus Group. Ms. Beasley was recognized for her work in Optimizing Physical and Mental Health for seniors in conjunction with the Louisville Senior Advisory Board Fitness Focus Group. Ms. Beasley thanked the Senior Advisory Board Fitness Focus Group members; Carol Purfust, Richard and June Cohen and Cordie Candelaria. Ms. Jaramillo recognized the Senior Advisory Board Housing Focus Group and members Robert Pierce, Walt Oehlkers and Claire Floyd. 2009 COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS The Mayor and City Council conducted interviews for the Board and Commission vacancies on November 10, 2008 and December 2, 2008. The following appointments were made by motion: • Building Code Board of Appeals (3-year terms): Peter Geise, Matt Berry, and Gary Manuso (alternate). Board of Adjustment (3-year terms): Wayne Chancellor; Gunnar Malmquist and Erik Jasiak (alternate) Cultural Council (3-year terms): Don Atwoad; Maryan Jaross; Julie Kovash and Farren Wyner (a newly created position on LCC).
