Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 21 st, 2019 <br />Page 9 of 12 <br />Salerno and Thompson discussed the amounts. <br />Zuccaro added that it could have been in the hundreds or thousands, depending on <br />whether you include the taxes, which usually account for about half of the total <br />permitting amount. <br />Dickinson clarified that it seemed like it was in the low $1000s based on the discussion. <br />Salerno noted that there was additional demolition and cleanup beyond the numbers <br />they included in the grant proposal for other types of work. <br />Dickinson suggested that the applicant could go back and flesh out the numbers <br />between staff and the applicant. Ulm and Haley discussed the need for more detail. The <br />applicants agreed to provide additional documentation if the Commission requested. <br />Parris thought that since it was taxpayer money the Commission was trying to be good <br />stewards of those funds. <br />Zuccaro offered that the Commission move to approve the grant amount as proposed <br />with the `other' line not to exceed $30,000, upon verification by staff before Council that <br />the categories were qualifying expenses, minus permitting and inspection. <br />Thompson added that the owners would be happy with whatever the Commission was <br />comfortable with since the permitting amount was under $1000. <br />Dickinson made a motion to approve Resolution 7, Series 2019 in the amount of <br />$48,000 with an amendment as suggested by Director Zuccaro. Roll call vote. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />1013 Jefferson Avenue: Grant Request. (Resolution 8, Series 2019) <br />Selvoski explained that this application was operating under the previous grant program <br />and was a request for a focused grant. The HSA recommendation did not mention <br />insulation. The house is currently under -insulated, however. This is work that staff and <br />the Commission often approve on other landmarked properties. The applicant received <br />quotes and staff suggested going with the larger quote to allow the applicant to go with <br />the person they wanted to hire. The grant request would be $2,195 based on the higher <br />estimate. <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 8, Series 2019, approving a $2,195 grant for <br />the Butcher -Jones House. <br />Dunlap asked about the references to windows and doors in the staff packet. <br />Selvoski replied that they were included originally, but the only thing remaining was the <br />insulation work. <br />10 <br />
