NEW REGISTRATION OF VOTERS STARTED
Under a new state law, a new registration of voters is required.
accordingly, the Louisville Town Board has arranged for new registra-
tion of all the voters of the Town at the Town Hall, and the clerk and
assistant clerk will begin listing voters immediately. All must be
registered before the Tuesday preceding the April Town election, in
order to vote at that election. The same law applies to the other
towns of the state.
The law requires , in addition, to the name and address of each
voter so registered, a description of the person, a statement of facts
concerning his citizenship, and other information pertinent to a record
of this kind. The voter may not register for anyone else excepting
members of his own family living at the same address.
The registration of each voter is written upon a separate sheet ,
and these sheets will be kept in a loose-leaf binder that will permit
additions and removals. If a voter does not vote at any general state
election, his name will be removed from the registration list within
45 days after the election.
The registration uheet will state the full name of the voter,
whether married or single, place of residence, whether house owner,
tenant , or lodger, whether native born or naturalized citizen (and
how and when naturalized) , description of person, men must state age
and women may state only that they are over 21 years of age, profession,
business or employment , and postoffice address.
Party affiliation will not be asked, but the information will
be asked bythe judges at the first primary election at which the
citizen votes.
