Building Code Board of Appeals
Minutes
10/16/08
appears to be headed toward commercial only. Mike asked for the Board to give
clear direction to our City Council. Mike recommends at this time to wait for the
national standard on Green Building.

David Rounds said he agrees with Mike Jones, it is best to wait for a national
standard.

Peter Geise said it looks like waiting for the national standard is all we can do for
now.

Rex Olson agreed that the market driven standards are more than sufficient for
Green Built Standards.

Mike Jones said he will create a rough draft memo to propose to Council on
waiting for the national standard, and send it to the Board for their review.

. 2009 ICC Code discussion

Matthew Berry cautioned that an erratic list of amendments to the 2009 Code
might be coming out soon.

Mike Jones stated the 151 draft of the 2009 Code is expected the first week of
December. He said the biggest issue to consider with adopting the new code is
the sprinkled homes requirement. The first documents will be released by March
1, 2009. At that time, the Board can digest the information and decide in late
Spring 2009 for recommendations to adopt.

Board of Appeals Comments

Ron LoSasso said he will not be renewing his alternate status on the Board for
2009 as he is focusing on being president of the Louisville Chamber.

Staff Comments

Mike Jones asked all Board Members who need to get their renewal letters
written for Board position renewals to please turn them into the City Manager's
office as soon as possible. This includes: Peter Geise and Matthew Berry.

Discussion Items for Next Meeting

Mike Jones said he will be letting everyone know if there will be a meeting in
November or not.

Adjourn - The meeting was adjourned at 7: 15 PM.
