APPROVE A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF <br />LOUISVILLE AND MICHAEL BAKER INTERNATIONAL <br />FOR THE STATE HIGHWAY 42 AND SHORT STREET <br />GEOMETRIC IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT <br />JULY 23, 2019 <br />KURT KOWAR, PUBLIC WORKS <br />SUMMARY: <br />Staff recommends approval of a construction contract with Goodland Construction <br />(Goodland), a contract amendment to the existing consultant contract with Sustainable <br />Traffic Solutions (STS), and a construction management contract with Michael Baker <br />International for the State Highway 42 and Short St. Geometric Improvements Project. <br />Staff advertised the subject project on May 16, 2019. Bids received are as follows: <br />Goodland <br />Defalco <br />Noraa <br />**$2,496,096.00 <br />$2,623,800.00 <br />$3,613,786.60 <br />** Actual bid of $2,497,308. <br />The Goodland bid contained a math error however Goodland is still the low bid at <br />$2,497,308. CDOT has reviewed the bids and provided concurrence to award. Staff <br />recommends approval of a contract with Goodland per their low bid of $2,497,308. In <br />addition, Staff is requesting approval of 10% contingency funds in the amount of <br />$249,730.
