Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
November
Project Ideas
Name Ideas: Legacy Day, WWJD (What would John Do)
Some ideas were to create a poster about what you can recycle/compost and put
this around Louisville near recycle/compost bins. Also, we considered having an
eco friendly month, or a kindness movement (promoting kindness on 0027
facebook page), or fixing water fountain at John Breaux park,
The board wants to start in January with a random act of kindness theme, and
considered promoting this by presenting to Council, 0027, and schools (using a
poster/ad). The board then split into groups to brainstorm more ideas for monthly
themes. One group brainstormed the idea of supporting local businesses, having
a bike/walk to places month (to lower carbon footprint), having a teacher
appreciation/gratitude month, and a month of learning/trying something new. The
other group brainstormed the idea of doing a heart/kindness wall, a gratitude
month, shoveling snow, doing something for your neighbor, and ending these
mini monthly projects with a cumulative project. Also, the ideas of addressing
existing problems (i.e. weeding, being kind to mother nature, pick-up trash,
indirectly helping people) or partnering with historic museum for a preservation
type movement was another point of discussion.
Next Steps
Keep brainstorming ideas for monthly themes
Discussion Items for Next Meeting
Vote on ideas and assign jobs for January theme - who is posting? who is
contacting schools?
Adjourn — The meeting was adjourned at 7:23 pm.
