Revitalization Commission <br />Minutes <br />January 13, 2020 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />Commissioner Tofte suggested extending the sidewalk on the south side of <br />Griffith, near the train tracks, though this may be tied to the quiet zone. <br />Council member Lipton said that at Empire Road over 42 there is no button to <br />push for pedestrian/bike crossing. City Manager Balser said sometimes there is <br />an issue as to what is private infrastructure vs public improvements. <br /> <br />Commissioner Bradfield wants to maintain focus on Hwy 42. We’ve invested a <br />lot there. <br /> <br />Commissioner Tofte suggested the LRC take notes, work on prioritizing a list, <br />keep the work plan discussion on the agenda and continue to discuss. City <br />Manager Balser said Council is starting on budget. Items can be added to <br />budget with LRC assistance. <br /> <br />Council member Lipton said it is hard to prioritize without knowing what our 3 – <br />5 year goals are. What do we want to focus on? Commissioner Bradfield said <br />the overarching goal is to improve the district. <br /> <br />The draft matrix can be revised to include goals and refine areas of focus. <br />Council member Lipton would like to eliminate Parcel O discussion. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gambale agrees that we need to engage property owners. What <br />are their unmet needs that we can help with? That way we are not assuming <br />things. Commissioner Gorsevski said a lot of this has to do with connectivity. <br /> <br />Council member Lipton feels a joint meeting with DBA and BRaD would not be <br />productive. He noted that City Council has a new group working on Economic <br />Vitality strategy. It is important for us to be on same page. This should be added <br />to list. City Manager Balser said the committee will be putting specific goals and <br />strategies in place. Those items will go to Council. The committee is comprised <br />of Mayor Stolzmann, Council member Maloney and Council member Dickinson. <br />Meetings will be noticed. <br /> <br />Council member Lipton asked if staff can provide Council discussion points <br />from retreat with Stan Zemler from last summer. <br /> <br />Director Pierce will reorganize and develop some language around goals and <br />continue to put on agenda. <br /> <br />• Discussion of Joint Meeting with City Council scheduled for February 11, <br />2020 at 5:30 pm <br />Typically do recap of what has been done in past year or two. Goals and <br />priorities. Discussion of what you would like to discuss with Council. Chair <br />Fisher would like to hear from Council how LRC is perceived.
