Ls <br />City of Louisville Planning Department <br />MEMORANDUM <br />To: Honorable Chair and Members of the Planning Commission <br />From: Planning Division <br />Subject: Election of Officers — Discussion <br />Date: March 13, 2008 <br />The Bylaws of the Louisville Planning Commission establish the manner for <br />electing officers. Article II, Section 2 established that there shall be a Chair, Vice - <br />chair and Secretary and that they shall be elected either <br />1) at the first meeting in January, or <br />2) at the first meeting of the Commission after the effective date of <br />appointment of new members of the Planning Commission. <br />The Bylaws do not establish any formal process that the Commission must follow <br />in the election of officers. <br />The Commission did not elect officers at the January 10, 2008 meeting but chose <br />to elect officers after the effective date of the appointment of new members of the <br />Planning Commission. <br />At the March 13, 2008 meeting the Commission could either: <br />1) accept formal nominations and letters of interest that could then be <br />considered at the April 10, 2008 meeting or <br />2) complete the election of officers with nominations during the March 13th <br />meeting. <br />If the Commission wishes to submit letters of interest or letters of nomination in <br />advance of the April 10th meeting, staff could include those in your packets of that <br />meeting.
