ITEM:
LOUISVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION
STAFF REPORT
May 8, 2008
Resolution No. 09, Series 2008. A Resolution Recommending Approval
of An Ordinance Amending Sections of Title 17 of the Louisville
Municipal Code to revise the City's Regulations Concerning the Parking
and Storage of Motor Vehicles, Recreational Vehicles, Trailers,
Dumpsters, Roll -Offs and Portable Storage Units.
PLANNER: Paul S. Wood, Planning Director
APPLICANT: City of Louisville
ZONING: All residential zone districts.
REQUEST:
The draft ordinance is structured to incorporate the following three principal elements:
1. Sec. 17.20.160. Motor vehicle parking limitations.
The scope of the draft ordinance is inclusive of a limitation on the parking of motor vehicles
on private residential lots. The focus of this section is to limit the number of motor vehicles
which can be parked on a private residential lot in areas other than a paved driveway. No
more than two motor vehicles may be parked on any area of the lot other than within a fully
enclosed structure or on a paved driveway which is intended for parking or access to a
garage or carport. Further, no more than one such motor vehicle may be inoperable. Section
one does define the term `motor vehicle'.
2. Sec. 17.20.165. Parking of recreational vehicles and trailers.
Section two of the draft ordinance defines both term `recreational vehicle' and `trailer'. The
intent of this section is to define what is being regulated, provide a limit on the number of
units which can be stored on a private residential lot as well as the location of those units on
a lot.
3. Sec. 17.16.180. Temporary uses.
The scope of the draft ordinance includes a section which defines the placement of
dumpsters, portable storage containers, and roll -offs on private residential lots. The terms
are defined as well as the allowed duration and location of these on private lots.
BACKGROUND:
1
