<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />AGENDA ITEM 2 <br />SUBJECT: ANNUAL REPORT – HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />DATE: MARCH 10, 2020 <br /> <br />PRESENTED BY: FELICITY SELVOSKI, HISTORIC PRESERVATION PLANNER <br /> <br />Staff reached out to the Historic Preservation Commission to respond to the following <br />questions provided to each Board and Commission prior to discussion with City Council. <br />The following are their responses: <br /> <br />1. LIST HIGHLIGHTS AND SUCCESSES OF THE PAST YEAR: <br /> We successfully and seamlessly incorporated two new commissioners into <br />our proceedings and deliberations. The contributions of each have been <br />quite impressive. The blending of experience and new viewpoints has led <br />to a high functioning commission <br /> Approval of the updated historic preservation incentives resolution <br />substantially increasing the grants available to property owners who <br />landmark their eligible structures <br /> Major achievements: <br />o Recommended approval of the first loan from the Historic <br />Preservation Fund ($69,000) <br />o Approved 10 grants for Historic Structure Assessments totaling <br />$40,000 <br />o Landmarked three properties in 2019 following the incentives <br />update: <br /> 816 Main St. (Empire) <br /> 816 Lincoln Ave. <br /> Miners Cabins <br />o Recommended approval of five preservation grants totaling <br />$167,260.76 <br /> <br />2. LIST PLANS/GOALS FOR THE NEXT YEAR: <br /> Continue thorough and efficient consideration of the matters before us. <br /> Update and expand publications including walking tour, brochures, handouts, <br />booklets, etc. <br /> Expand outreach and education efforts to community members, professionals, <br />and homeowners. <br /> Continue education efforts for commission members including conference <br />attendance. <br /> Meetings with Council and other committees as necessary. <br /> Review of Old Town Overlay; Joint Study Session with the Planning <br />Commission for the Old Town Overlay.
