The City
recently set the new incentive figures following the
extension of the Historic Preservation tax by voters.
Through the City's unique, voluntary Historic Preserva-
tion Program, eligible historic properties can pursue
landmark status and receive a variety of grants. Not
only are grants available for the preservation of histor-
ic structures, the City also offers grants for eligible new
building additions. With no obligation to landmark a
property, grants are available to conduct a "Historic
Structure Assessment;'which provides information
on the condition of the property and provides recom-
mendations for preservation.
Commenting, Rob Zuccaro, Director of Planning &
Building Safety, said:
"This incentive program is a great opportunity for Lou-
isville residents and businesses to update their prop-
erties while preserving the history and architectural
integrity of the City.
"We look forward to working with property owners
who want to learn more about our program and their
property. Applying for a Historic Structure Assessment
grant is an easy first step that allows property owners
to learn more about the history and condition of their
building with no obligation to pursue Landmark status
and usually at no cost.
"This program forms a key part of the City's commit-
ment to protect, preserve, and enhance the quality of
life in our community."
Eligible historic properties are at least 50 years old, his-
torically significant, and retain architectural integrity.
The program, which is funded by a dedicated sales tax,
recognizes the historical and architectural significance
of over 40 local landmarks.
Find out more
Property owners inter-
ested in learning more
about a Historic Structure
Assessment or in pur-
suing landmark status,
should contact Felicity
Selvoski, Historic Preser-
vation Planner:
FSelvoski@LouisvilleCO.
gov
303.335.4594
L
Winter 2019/2020 • Page 3
