Lafayette City Council / Louisville City Council <br />Joint Study Session Summary <br />March 6, 2020 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority Update: <br />City Manager Sprague reported Lafayette URA has a project at the 700 block of South Public <br />Road. An RFP has been issued. There is the potential of retaining a couple of structures but <br />utilizing the rest of the block for housing. There are complexities with retaining long time <br />businesses and developing. Sprague reviewed development in URA in Lafayette. <br />BVSD/Library Partnership: <br />Library Director Nemechek said there is a partnership with Boulder and BVSD to simplify and <br />increase access for student homework resources. Online access has increased 40%. BVSD <br />would like Lafayette and Louisville to do the same. Nemechek hopes this will come to fruition <br />within the year. <br />Solid Waste: <br />Lafayette Mayor Harkin said they are looking at fee or tax on single use plastic bags. Louisville <br />and Lafayette are in sync on this issue. There is a lot of desire regionally. Lafayette would <br />prefer a statewide solution. Louisville will continue discussion. <br />Other: <br />Lafayette said they have not heard from residents about any issues with airport noise. <br />Lafayette Mayor Pro Tern Walton said they are working on a response to coronavirus and that <br />the responsibility to keep staff and residents safe.
