RESOLUTION NO. 01 <br />SERIES 2020 <br />A RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING THE <br />LANDMARK DESIGNATION FOR A HISTORICAL RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE <br />LOCATED AT 917 LA FARGE AVENUE <br />WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the Louisville Historic Preservation <br />Commission (HPC) an application requesting a landmark eligibility determination for a <br />historical residential structure located on 917 La Farge Avenue, on property legally described <br />as Lots 5-6 less N. 5 feet of Block 4, Jefferson Place, Town of Louisville, City of Louisville, <br />State of Colorado; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Staff and the HPC have reviewed the application and found it to <br />be in compliance with Chapter 15.36 of the Louisville Municipal Code, including Section <br />15.36.050.A, establishing criteria for landmark designation; and <br />WHEREAS, the HPC has held a properly noticed public hearing on the proposed <br />landmark application; and <br />WHEREAS, 917 La Farge Avenue (Porta House) has social significance because it <br />exemplifies the cultural, political, economic or social heritage of the community considering <br />its association with families from a variety of ethnic groups; and <br />WHEREAS, the Porta House has architectural significance because it is a vernacular <br />structure that is representative of the built environment in early 20th century Louisville; and <br />WHEREAS, the HPC finds that these and other characteristics specific to the Porta <br />House have social and architectural significance as described in Section 15.36.050.A of the <br />Louisville Municipal Code; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />1. The application to landmark the Porta House be approved for the following <br />reasons: <br />a. Architectural integrity of the vernacular structure. <br />b. Association with Louisville's immigrant heritage. <br />2. The Historic Preservation Commission recommends the City Council <br />approve the landmark incentive grant for the Porta House, in the amount of <br />$5,000. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this day of , 2020. <br />1 <br />Lynda Haley, Chairperson <br />28 <br />
