A component of the Strategic Plan for Coal Creek Golf Course is financial sustainability. 2020 has been a challenging year
with dramatic increase in demand that is forecasted to continue into 2021. Based upon our 2020 3rd quarter financial
position and our 3-year average of negative cash flow over the last quarter, we project a year-end operating surplus of $
273,000. The information below offers insights to demand for golf by specific player and season pass categories. You
will also see the current season pass rates and proposed 2021 plan, along with a revised league fee structure.
The overriding priority is financial sustainability. Given the COVID impact on our Cities finances, our ability to obtain
approval for capital improvements will be more difficult. Our fund balance may become our primary source to fund
much -needed enhancements that have been pushed to later dates.
The creation of the 2021 pricing structure encapsulates multiple criteria:
• Demand
• Total revenue generated per round by specific categories of players
o Season Pass holders
■ Imperial
■ Regal
■ Monarch
■ Preferred
■ Preferred plus
o Daily Fee players
o Golf Outings
o Golf Tournaments
o League
• Cost per round to maintain the golf course and administer operations
• The strategic plan for Coal Creek Golf Course
• The Enterprise Fund aspects of Coal Creek Golf Course
The data within stems from a 1-year period from October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020.
The raw data
9% increase in rounds played
23% increase in green fees
12% increase in annual pass revenue
21% increase in total sales
10% decrease in playable days
General category of player's
Imperial
Monarch
Regal
Preferred Plus
Preferred
Daily Fee
of total revenue
5.32%
3.36%
4.77
6.25%
5.42
74.88
of total rounds played
5.8
4.4
5.7%
7.0
6.3
70.8%
Currently 2020 discounts off Green fees is $ 3.00 while being exempt from Dynamic pricing.
Preferred ($3.00) on 18 hole green fee with NO dynamic pricing increases
2020 discounted Weekday green fees range from $ 33 to $ 39
If dynamic pricing was enacted for 2020 the green fee range is $ 30 to $ 52
rN
