Director <br />Nemechek reported that the city IT systems were aware of this and taking steps to protect <br />IT. <br />• Board Member Chamberlin asked whether the Board meeting packet could be sent to the <br />Board in advance of the meeting. <br />VIII. New Business <br />A. COVID-19 Policy. Board Member Chamberlin presented a research document reviewing current <br />research on aerosol transmission of COVID-19 and in particular the need for air exchange in order to <br />maintain air quality least likely to transmit the disease. He flagged the potential concern for <br />fomite-based transmission of COVID-19 through book transfers as a pathway to infection. Board <br />Member Dufrense responded that based on her public health expertise and CDC recommendations, <br />fomite transfer is not likely to be a risk of infection. Board Member Chamberlin flagged the risk of <br />aerosol transmission in the library as something to be considered. Director Nemechek reported that <br />the library is currently exceeding CDPHE guidelines on reducing COVID-19 transmission through <br />spacing, HVAC capacity, number of people inside, and mask usage. A general discussion of <br />potential infection risk related to library activities including fomite-related transmission through the <br />little free libraries followed. <br />B. Library Social Media Plan. Board members discussed the relationship of the library's social <br />media and communications plans to larger community concerns, including the risk that Facebook or <br />other social media platforms contribute to the spread of misinformation and harmful or damaging <br />information. Board Member Chamberlin proposed that the library shift communications to email. <br />Director Nemechek agreed to review what information was sent through what channels, but at the <br />moment the limited staff capacity limited library ability to change current plans. <br />IX. Ongoing Business <br />A. Superior Board of Trustees Update. Trustee Shah reported on upcoming discussions at the Superior <br />Board of Trustees about how to address upcoming vacancies on the Board, and an upcoming joint <br />meeting with Louisville. Trustees report some concern from the city that the library's funds were cut <br />unilaterally by Louisville while Superior's contributions remained flat, and in particular that these decisions <br />were made without direct engagement with Superior in advance of the decision. <br />B. Library Foundation liaison report. Board President Gurganus reported that the Library Foundation has <br />been listed on Colorado Gives, increasing visibility and significantly reducing overhead fees for donations. <br />C. Little Libraries. Board President Gurganus reported that the little libraries appear to be in use and are <br />stocked. <br />
