Louisville Local Licensing Authority
Meeting Date: September 17, 2001

SECRETARY'S REPORT

A. Show Cause Hearing - Pine Street Junction - Order for Continuance to 10/29/01

Deputy City Clerk Bolte stated that the Authority previously discussed the Motion for Continuance
and Order for Continuance of the hearing for Pine Street Junction.

Bolte stated that she had received approval of the Louisville Liquor Lore newsletter from City
Administrator Bill Simmons. Bolte stated it was her understanding that the Authority had also
approved the newsletter at their August 27th meeting, at which she was not present.

Bolte advised members that she has arranged for special guest speakers at the October 24th liquor
training session. Bolte stated that Mr. Lynn Hopwood, Executive Director for the Colorado
Licensed Beverage Association and Ms. Michelle Cordova, TIPS Trainer from Hunt Sales Company
in Longmont, have both accepted invitations to speak regarding their organizations and seller/server
training programs.

Deputy City Clerk Bolte concluded, stating that she had compiled an orientation manual for the
Local Licensing Authority as part of the training curriculum City Council had requested be
completed this year. Bolte stated that Chairperson Lipton had reviewed the videotape recorded
earl/er this year, and determined that it was of no value for training purposes. Bolte asked that
members individually review the manual and make comments or suggestions within the next few
months, so that a final manual could be prepared and submitted with the year-end report to Council.

Member Khmmctt asked if any Authority members were familiar with the person seated in the
audience. Trevor Hughes of the Louisville Times introduced himself to the Authority.

AUTHORITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT

Attorney Harrington stated that she wanted to update the Authority on a couple of upcoming
hearings. Harrington stated that the hearing on the renewal application for Hickory Sticks is
scheduled for October 29, 2001 and that Mark Shapiro had been appointed Special Prosecutor for
this case. However, Attorney Shapiro will not be able to prosecute this matter, due to health issues.
Harrington stated that Steve Barnett had been appointed to handle previous hearings on Hickory
Sticks, but because Mr. Barnett will be handling two other hearings at the October meeting, she
asked Bruce Joss if he would be available to serve as Special Prosecutor. Attorney Harrington stated
that Bruce Joss has agreed to take over the case.

Attorney Harrington stated that Steve Barnett had agreed to be present at this meeting to advise the
Authority as to whether he felt there was sufficient evidence to proceed with the Show Cause
hearing for Henry's Bar & Grill, which is also set for the October 29th meeting. Harrington
apologized to the Authority, and stated that she had not been able to get the Show Cause Order to
attorney Barnett in time for him to make any investigation of the incident.

AUTHORITY COMMENTS

None

5
~ \ FRED\ VARRAN ~LI QU OR~2001 ~MINUTE, S\MiN UTES091701.DOC
