CXtyof BUSINESS RETENTION AND
Louisville DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
COLORADO • SINCE 1.878
SUBJECT: STAFF REPORT
DATE: DECEMBER 7, 2020
PRESENTED BY: MEGAN E. PIERCE, ECONOMIC VITALITY DIRECTOR
SUMMARY:
In the following, staff provides updates on recent activity related to core economic
vitality functions.
Business Assistance Program (BAP)
There have been no new approved agreements since the November BRaD Committee
meeting. Staff continues conversations with a few businesses that might pursue this
avenue.
Business Openings and Closures
Staff has not received notification of any recent business closures, though this area will
be closely monitored as we enter more restricted capacities due to recent public health
orders. There also has not been much recent activity with business openings. On
November 17, the Rose and Raven, a planned cidery and tavern at 511 E. South
Boulder Road, did receive City Council approval of the mobile food truck court
amendment and its PUD. The group also plans to apply for assistance from the
Revitalization Commission. They project opening in late summer 2021.
Economic Vitality Strategic Plan
The draft strategic plan was presented to City Council on November 10, 2020. Council
adopted the plan with no changes. A copy of the plan document adopted by Council is
included as Attachment #1.
Temporary Signage Allowances:
On October 16, the Economic Vitality Committee directed staff to extend the waiver of
permitting requirements for temporary commercial signage. On October 20, staff shared
the extension from the original October 31 expiration with the business community via
an e-blast. The waiver period is noted to extend through the pandemic recovery. Staff
will determine a new end date and then give businesses a one -month notice prior to
returning to the rules and enforcement of the 2019 Sign Code.
RECOMMENDATION:
No action required; for information only.
ATTACHMENTS:
• Attachment #1: Economic Vitality Strategic Plan (Adopted)
Agenda Packet P. 9
