December 9, 2020 Meeting Minutes Continued
LLC*
Ity0f
Louisville
COLORADO•SINCE 1882 Resolution of Appreciation
for
Missy Davis
by the City of Louisville Open Space Advisory Board
December, 2020
Whereas, Missy Davis has served on the City of Louisville Open Space Advisory Board for seven years,
from January, 2013 to December, 2020.
Whereas, she served not only as a valued OSAB colleague but also an Acquisitions Tiger Team member,
the driver for a better city process for monitoring potential open space properties and building
relationships with property owners and an advocate for equal access to all for Open Space, including the
disabled and the elderly, characterized by her direct approach, clarity, fairness, tough questions and frank
answers, sense of humor and passionate commitment to protect, conserve and preserve our open space
lands.
Whereas, Missy's ability to provide legal, historical, and procedural context and to help us level -set on the
essence of an issue are unsurpassed. Her substantive knowledge of the OSAB mission and thoughtful,
concise wisdom enriched our discussions and decisions. She spontaneously served as our time keeper,
often keeping us on point and on time. She led the efforts to widen the acquisitions strategies available to
us, taking us from simply hammering on purchases in fee simple to employing a tool chest approach
including rights of first refusal and option agreements, real estate agent retainers, conservation and trail
easements, leases and open space/trail dedications. She also championed cultivating partnerships with our
neighbor governments and building relationships with property owners to increase the frequency and
diversity of acquisition opportunities. She understood the power of connection and communication,
supporting wayfinding and community engagement throughout her tenure. Missy inspired and challenged
us to continue to strive to achieve our mission to conserve and restore Open Space through progressive
and proactive land acquisition and use management for the protection of our natural and cultural
resources.
Whereas, she guided us with her analytical approach, insights into the pros and cons, professional and
courteous demeanor and inherent ability to articulate the issues and identify solutions. She enriched the
culture of our community by celebrating successes, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to share and
always making a point of thanking Open Space staff and community members for their hard work - whether
pitching an innovative pilot project or providing an update on a controversial subject. These are just a few
of the many ways Missy has enhanced our community through her work on the Open Space Advisory
Board.
7
