Student One initiative
The Library and BVSD have a long history of working together to benefit our students. In 2021
we hope to become stronger partners in an effort to provide easy and seamless access to our
wealth of online K-12 databases. The goal is to build on the system already in place at the
Boulder Public Library that allows local BVSD students to access and use the Library's research
databases with the convenience of a student ID number. All students would have equal access
to online resources from home or school, providing every student the information needed for
homework assignments and research projects. This expanded partnership will benefit the
community, boost literacy and student success, leverage taxpayer resources, and strengthen
both organizations.
BVSD is reviewing the MOU now. We hope to have an agreement signed and a plan in place
for ingesting student data by summer 2021.
Mobile CKO
The Library has subscribed to a service that will allow patrons to check out library materials
using their smart phone. Bibliotheca, the vendor we use for our self -check machines and
automated book return, offered us a deal at the end of the year. This service will eliminate the
need for patrons to touch the screens at self -check, and will ideally shorten wait times for
checkout and reduce crowds in the Lobby. It will also be invaluable for patrons checking
materials out at the Community Center in Superior. Patrons can also manage their accounts
using the app.
