PIERCE, ECONOMIC VITALITY DIRECTOR
SUMMARY:
In the following, staff provides updates on recent activity related to core economic
vitality functions.
Louisville's Outdoor Dining Program:
The winter version of the Outdoor Dining program appears to be going well. Staff has
received a few complaints about the reduced amount of seating, particularly around
sunny and fair weather days. However, the seating areas have functioned as
anticipated with traffic and parking and also have not been problematic during the snow
events to -date.
Keep It Local Louisville Prize Draw:
In partnership with the Louisville Chamber of Commerce, the City launched its new
marketing campaign on January 1. The City and Chamber are working together to
encourage the community to funnel support to those local businesses that have been
heavily impacted by capacity restrictions. More information is available on the City's
website (https://www.louisvilleco.gov/doing-business/economic-development/support-
local/keep-it-local-louisville-prize-draw). The City is working to spread the information to
residents through its communication channels and the Chamber is administering the
receipt collection and prize draw. The organizations are splitting the cost of prizes.
Boulder County Small Business Grant Program:
Staff participated on the County team that was tasked with developing the application
and process for the grants resulting from SB2013-001. Boulder County has contracted
with the Colorado Enterprise Fund (CEF) to administer the program on its behalf. CEF
will be utilizing the application, criteria, and selection that was determined by the County
team. Applications for this grant program opened January 8 and will close on January
29. Please recall that this grant program is limited (by statute) to restaurants, bars
(including breweries, wineries, and distilleries), caterers, movie theatres, and gyms or
recreation centers. All program funding must be dispersed to those approved by
February 12, 2021.
Business Request Regarding Facial Covering Ordinance:
On January 6, one of the owners of My Salon Suite, located at 1075 E. South Boulder
Road, contacted staff regarding the ability to conduct facials. Staff has discussed this
with the ownership team before, as there are differences between guidance from
Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) and the City's
requirement for facial coverings. For personal service providers, CDPHE advises the
Agenda Packet P. 24
