LL Cityof LOUISVILLE REVITALIZATION <br />Louisville COMMISSION <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />SUBJECT: RESOLUTION 21-01: APPROVING A COOPERATION <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE AND THE <br />LOUISVILLE REVITALIZATION COMMISSION REGARDING <br />FUNDING FOR PUBLIC ART IN THE SOUTH STREET <br />GATEWAY <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 10, 2021 <br />PRESENTED BY: MEGAN E. PIERCE, ECONOMIC VITALITY DIRECTOR <br />6*11►y, IJi 1_1 Zvi <br />One of the priority items in the Louisville Revitalization Commission's Work Plan is the <br />placement of public art at the South Street Underpass. At the December 2020 LRC <br />meeting, the Louisville Cultural Council (LCC) presented a proposal for Louisville artist <br />Gregory Fields to create a sculpture for the existing sculpture pad on the west side of <br />the underpass. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />While the LCC has committed the funding for Mr. Fields' proposed work within the <br />underpass, the group requested funding from the LRC to complete the sculpture pad, it <br />the amount of $11,500. The LCC would manage the approval process and installation, <br />in hopes of completing the project in summer 2021. The LRC expressed support for the <br />funding opportunity. <br />In January, the LRC reviewed the draft cooperation agreement from the City Attorney <br />that would allow funding for this project. Commissioners directed staff to take the <br />cooperation agreement forward to City Council. City Council approved the cooperation <br />agreement, included here with the resolution as Attachment #1, at its February 2, 2021 <br />meeting. <br />The cooperation agreement now requires final approval from the LRC. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends adoption of Resolution 21-01, approving the Cooperation Agreement <br />to fund the public art in the South Street Gateway. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Attachment #1: Resolution 21-01: Cooperation Agreement Between the City of <br />Louisville and the Louisville Revitalization Commission Regarding Funding for <br />Public Art in the South Street Gateway <br />Agenda Packet P. 12 <br />
