Businesses understand the public health impact of single -use plastics and feel supported in the implementation of a disposable bag tax <br />approved by voters. <br />Objectives <br />- All businesses understand how to implement a disposable bag tax at their point of sale <br />- All businesses feel supported in the implementation of a disposable bag ax approved by voters <br />- Residents and visitors are aware of the public health impact of single -use plastics <br />- Residents and visitors are aware of the disposable bag tax at all retail businesses <br />- Residents and visitors reduce disposable bag consumption and disposal <br />Messaging <br />Commercial <br />The disposable bag tax is a voter approved initiative to reduce single -use plastics and items within the community. <br />Dedication and support from our local businesses helps make Louisville great. Businesses retain $0.10 of the bag tax to assist with <br />implementation, administration and education to support the goal of responsible retail. <br />The disposable bag tax will not go into effect until January 1, 2022. The city is working to support and help support all businesses to prepare for <br />the transition. <br />Residential <br />Bring your own bag.
