SUBJECT: DBA REQUEST FOR MAIN STREET CLOSURE <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 19, 2021 PAGE 3 OF 3 <br />directs should be gathered for a temporary closure plan, it may also wish for the plan to <br />come back to the Committee before being presented to the full Council. <br />If the EVC is not supportive of the DBA's recommendation, staff's focus will remain on <br />the opportunities for outdoor dining within the on -street parking spaces. Under this <br />scenario, staff would appreciate input about the fee structure of this program. Typically, <br />participating restaurants must rent each patio from the City. In 2019, patios were rented <br />at $1,000 each —so if a restaurant utilized three patios, they paid the City $3,000 for the <br />season. As noted, staff hopes to pursue some grant opportunities for potentially <br />purchasing additional patios or fixtures. However, due to the ongoing pandemic <br />impacts, Council may wish to again offer the Outdoor Dining program at no -cost to <br />program participants as occurred in 2020. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Review the information provided about potential outdoor dining programs for 2021, <br />including a temporary closure of Main Street.
