City Council Finance Committee
Meeting Minutes
01 /25/20
The total premium for all lines of coverage amounted to a 12.4% increase over the
2020 premium.
The City budgeted for a 10% increase in 2021. The 10% was factored on the total
premium plus the supplemental deductible buy -down premium that the City
purchased in March of 2020. Staff is not yet certain whether to recommend
renewing the deductible buy -down policy, which will be due in March.
The reports and corresponding narrative can be located in the packet of the
January 25, 2021 Finance Committee Meeting.
ENTERPRISE DASHBOARDS
Nathan Mosley, Director of Parks, Recreation, & Open Space, David Baril, Head
Golf Professional, and Kathy Martin, Recreation Superintendent presented the 4th
Quarter 2020 dashboards for the Golf Course and Recreation Center.
Director Mosely and David Baril noted that the Golf Course saw significant
increases in rounds and revenue for the 4th quarter and for the entire year. Total
rounds for 2020 were 10% higher than 2019. Total revenue per playable -day was
up by 27%
Director Mosely noted the Recreation Center saw a 64% reduction in visits for 2020
as compared to 2019. However, actual revenue came in 21 % higher than the
revenue projections used during the budget development.
Director Mosely also reviewed the main pass types for the Committee (resident,
non-resident, silver sneakers, and monthly adult). Director Mosely projected five
years of recovery before reaching 2019 revenue totals. Director Mosley and Kathy
Martin discussed some hesitancy in Reaction Center participants, noting that they
are not currently filling to the new capacity levels.
The reports and corresponding narrative can be located in the packet of the
January 25, 2021 Finance Committee Meeting.
STAFF REPORTS/UPDATES/DISCUSSIONS
November Sales & Use Tax Update
Kevin Watson, Finance Director, presented a copy of the November Sales Tax
Reports that were placed on the City's Website on January 4, 2021.
Director Watson reminded the Committee that this was a monthly report and that
next month the December quarterly report will be a regular item on the Finance
Committee agenda.
