ofL
LC1
ouistiYville
Memorandum
To: Historical Commission
From: Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator
Date: March 10, 2021
Re: Museum Coordinator's Report
Since the January Commission meeting, Boulder County has moved to Level Yellow on the
State COVID-19 Dial. The Museum now offers tours by appointment for up to 10 people
at a time, with no restrictions on the number of households represented. For these in -
person tours, the Museum staff conducts much of the tours outside due to the small sizes
of the buildings and the need for social distancing. We are also looking ahead to when the
Museum can reopen to walk-in visitors, although there will likely still be restrictions on
how many people can be in each building at a time.
Although the Museum is not open for regular public hours, the Museum staff continues
to offer virtual tours by appointment and responds to public inquiries made by phone and
email regarding potential donations, historical research questions, membership, and
other topics. The Museum recently sponsored two live historical talks in webinar format
on the topic of the 1920s and race and labor issues in the Louisville area, and we are
looking into organizing and sponsoring additional live webinars in the upcoming months.
Virtual tours for preschool classes are a brand-new offering that the Museum plans to
continue to make available as long as there is interest.
The Museum staff is in the process of planning several outdoor programs in the late
spring and summer, including walking tours, an outdoor photo project, and a vintage
baseball game from the Colorado Vintage Base Ball Association at Miners Field in
September. The "Lenses on Louisville" community photo project on May 8 and May 22
will involve inviting people to take photos of two neighborhoods and donate their photos
to the Museum so that the Museum has documentation of the way that Louisville looks
now.
