RESOLUTION NO.21 SERIES 2021 A RESOLUTION APPROVING A LOCAL LANDMARK DESIGNATION FOR THE LOUISVILLE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH BUILDING LOCATED AT 701 GRANT AVENUE WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the Louisville Historic Preservation Commission an application requesting a landmark designation for a historical property located at 701 Grant Avenue, legally described as Lots 10-11, Block 8, Pleasant Hill; and WHEREAS, the Louisville Historic Preservation Commission reviewed the application and found it to be in compliance with Chapter 15.36 of the Louisville Municipal Code, including Section 15.36.050.A, establishing criteria for landmark designation; and WHEREAS, the Louisville Historic Preservation Commission held a properly noticed public hearing on February 22, 2021 regarding the proposed landmark application, where evidence and testimony were entered into the record, including findings in the Louisville Historic Preservation Commission Staff Report dated February 22, 2021, and recommended the request be forwarded to the Louisville City Council with a recommendation of approval; and WHEREAS, the Louisville First Baptist Church Building has social significance because it exemplifies the cultural and social heritage of the community; and WHEREAS, the Louisville First Baptist Church Building has architectural significance because it is a unique representation of a wood -frame vernacular church building from early 20ei century Louisville; and WHEREAS, the Louisville City Council finds that these and other characteristics specific to the Louisville First Baptist Church Building have social and architectural significance as described in Section 15.36.050.A of the Louisville Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, the Louisville City Council has duly considered the proposed landmark application and the Commission's recommendation, and has held a properly noticed public hearing on the March 16, 2021 regarding the proposed landmark application, where evidence and testimony were entered Into the record, including findings in the Staff Report dated March 16, 2021. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: The City Council hereby approves the local landmark designation request for the First Baptist Church, located at 701 Grant Avenue.
