RESOLUTION NO. 21 <br />SERIES 2021 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING A LOCAL LANDMARK DESIGNATION FOR THE <br />LOUISVILLE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH BUILDING LOCATED AT 701 GRANT AVENUE <br />WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the Louisville Historic Preservation <br />Commission an application requesting a landmark designation for a historical property <br />located at 701 Grant Avenue, legally described as Lots 10-11, Block 8, Pleasant Hill; and <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville Historic Preservation Commission reviewed the application <br />and found it to be in compliance with Chapter 15.36 of the Louisville Municipal Code, <br />including Section 15.36.050.A, establishing criteria for landmark designation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville Historic Preservation Commission held a properly noticed <br />public hearing on February 22, 2021 regarding the proposed landmark application, where <br />evidence and testimony were entered into the record, including findings in the Louisville Historic <br />Preservation Commission Staff Report dated February 22, 2021, and recommended the <br />request be forwarded to the Louisville City Council with a recommendation of approval; and <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville First Baptist Church Building has social significance <br />because it exemplifies the cultural and social heritage of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville First Baptist Church Building has architectural significance <br />because it is a unique representation of a wood -frame vernacular church building from early <br />20t" century Louisville; and <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville City Council finds that these and other characteristics <br />specific to the Louisville First Baptist Church Building have social and architectural <br />significance as described in Section 15.36.050.A of the Louisville Municipal Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Louisville City Council has duly considered the proposed landmark <br />application and the Commission's recommendation, and has held a properly noticed public <br />hearing on the March 16, 2021 regarding the proposed landmark application, where evidence <br />and testimony were entered into the record, including findings in the Staff Report dated March <br />16, 2021. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />The City Council hereby approves the local landmark designation request for the First <br />Baptist Church, located at 701 Grant Avenue. <br />Resolution No. 21, Series 2021 <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />
