<br />COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br /> <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />DATE: <br /> <br />MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />MALCOLM FLEMING, CITY MANAGER <br />JAN UARY 13, 2009 <br />ENERGY REPORT - THIRD QUARTER 2008 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: <br /> <br />PUBLIC WORKS - FACILITIES <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br />As part of his responsibilities, David Szabados, the new Facilities Manager, is tracking energy <br />use for the City's major plants and facilities. The Energy Report will be issued quarterly and <br />distributed to building users and included with the Public Works Monthly Report. The three <br />main objectives of the Energy Report are to track energy consumption, identify energy <br />conservation opportunities and finally to review the effectiveness of energy initiatives. Included <br />with each report is a summary of the data and a progress report for energy related projects. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The Energy Report and energy related activities are part of the regular assigned duties for the <br />Facility Manager. The Energy Report will provide insight as to how the City of Louisville is <br />using and conserving energy. The report will be an integral part of the decision making <br />process involving energy initiatives and their effectiveness.
