LL t'.`'f LOUISVILLE REVITALIZATION
Loll sville COMMISSION
COLORADO -SINCE 1878
SUBJECT: DISCUSSION/DIRECTION- PHASE I WAYFINDING SIGNAGE
PROGRAM
DATE: APRIL 14, 2021
PRESENTED BY: MEGAN E. PIERCE, ECONOMIC VITALITY DIRECTOR
6411Ly,IJi/_1Zvi
In 2021, the Phase I Wayfinding Signage Program is the LRC's top priority project. The
2021 LRC budget allocates $130,000 to the placement of 13 signs focused on direction
to and wayfinding within Downtown Louisville.
DISCUSSION:
The LRC received City Council support to pursue its Phase I Wayfinding project on
February 16, 2021. However, based on past concerns about the existing sign family
(primarily designed size and legibility), staff has added a third -party analysis to the
planned process. But having a firm that designs and fabricates signs independently
review the sign family, the LRC will receive feedback about recommended design
changes or confirmation before a bid packet is created. The added step will likely also
create insight about the cost of the bids to be received this summer.
Staff has reached out to two Denver metro sign companies for quotes to perform this
analysis. Depending on the outcomes of the analysis, staff may also recommend to
create sign mock-ups to confirm sign placement and size at the selected locations. Staff
is waiting on a second quote; the first one received was for $1,800. An ancillary benefit
is that the analysis has likely created bidder interest in the project once the public
bidding process opens.
If a quote is received from the second firm prior to the April 14 meeting, staff will provide
an update to Commissioners. Otherwise, it appears this work can likely be completed
for $2,500 or less and staff hopes to advance the process further in April.
RECOMMENDATION:
Review the update on the Phase I Wayfinding Signage Program and provide feedback to
staff.
ATTACHMENTS:
• Attachment #1: Phase I Wayfinding Signage Map
Agenda Packet P. 17
