Revitalization Commission
Minutes
March 10, 2021
February, including the use of the Xcel 1 % fund and the status of the
undergrounding initiative at Hwy 42 and Griffith Street.
Commissioner Gambale inquired about the 809 Main undergrounding project
and how long it would take. Director Pierce said they are still four to five months
from construction and that the redevelopment can move forward while the City
pursues the undergrounding in the public alley.
Director Pierce noted that based on Council direction, the 1 % fund will be used
for the downtown undergrounding between Pine and Spruce (alley between
Main and LaFarge). If the cost estimate from Xcel exceeds available funds or
other costs are determined, the LRC may be asked to contribute to this project
as well. It is anticipated that would be known before the 2022 budget
development.
Commissioner Tofte said he supports the alley projects as three downtown
alleys are in terrible shape. Commercially, they would address the condition
survey and enhance commercial viability of success of businesses.
Commissioner Smith agrees. It would be a good use of LRC money.
• Discussion/Direction- Work Plan
There have been minor updates to work plan, mostly noting work in progress.
Progress on Phase 1 Wayfinding project occurred with the Council consent to
the project, which was received on February 16, 2021. Director Pierce shared
highlights from the Council meeting as well as staff's next steps to continue
project implementation.
• Information Only — 2020 Urban Renewal Area Revenue Reports
Included for Commissioner information.
• Items for Next Regular Meeting: April 14, 2021
• Work Plan
Commissioners Comments:
Commissioner Williams asked about the creation and review of the Work Plan.
Director Pierce noted it was a document created for and maintained by the LRC.
Commissioner Tofte asked about the progress of Ace Hardware at Louisville Plaza.
Director Pierce said, yes, Ace Hardware is moving forward with an anticipated opening
in June. They have joined the Chamber of Commerce.
Agenda Packet P. 6
