<br />There is still much uncertainty about the future economic condition of the City but staff <br />will continue to evaluate the situation and make financial and service level adjustments <br />as needed. The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic will likely be long-lasting and far- <br />reaching and the majority of industries, including local government, will be affected. <br /> <br /> <br />MAJOR INITIATIVES IN 2019 <br />Strategic Goals and Objectives <br /> <br />The City of Louisville Home Rule Charter states that the City’s mission is to provide basic <br />municipal services in an efficient and cost-effective manner and maintain the qualities that <br />make Louisville unique by protecting and preserving the City’s scenic, historic, and <br />aesthetic features through open and ethical government in which every member of the <br />community has an opportunity to participate. The City’s Strategic Plan, completed in 2018, <br />provides the following Vision, Mission and Values for the organization: <br /> <br />Vision <br />The City of Louisville – dedicated to providing a vibrant, healthy community with the best <br />small town atmosphere. <br /> <br />Mission <br />Our commitment is to protect, preserve, and enhance the quality of life in our community. <br /> <br />Values <br />Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence <br /> <br />Consistent with the City’s goals and objectives, City leaders and staff accomplished the <br />following during 2019: <br /> <br /> Reviewed finances, fees and budgets to ensure sound financial structure and fiscal <br />sustainability for new Recreation Center Fund and Golf Fund <br /> Continued implementation of Street Reconstruction and Pavement Booster <br />Program to maintain City’s pavement infrastructure <br /> Completed Transportation Master Plan to identify and implement key investments <br />that will improve the City’s transportation infrastructure <br /> Completed design and initiated construction of State Highway 42 Underpass, <br />which creates a vital pedestrian connection underneath SH 42 <br /> Completed design and initiated construction of State Highway 42 and Short <br />Intersection <br /> Transitioned Recreation & Senior Center programming and services to reflect the <br />increased demand associated with the newly expanded facilities <br /> Replacement of playgrounds to improve safety and meet ADA requirements <br /> Increased efforts to improve the City’s medians and landscaping infrastructure, <br />including forestry resources <br /> Increased natural resource management activities on City Open Space to improve <br />native vegetation <br /> Increased programming and hours at Louisville Historical Museum and increase <br />program marketing and outreach to grown attendance and participation <br /> Completed McCaslin Parcel O Redevelopment Study and implemented <br />recommendations to support redevelopment within the area <br />3
