Recreation Advisory Board
Minutes
March 22, 2021
• Board members asked Nathan to send out the Strategic Plan document in
a Word format, so that members can make edits and suggested revisions
of the document. Board members suggested that these revisions clarify
financial responsibility and financial sustainability.
• When asked to describe the purpose of a new club house, Nathan
reported that the process will be to have a structural analysis of the
building, a fiscal analysis of the golf course operations, and a financial
analysis of club amenities that might drive revenue. This process will
require support from the City.
• The Strategic Plan Update will be presented again next month. Board
members would like the plan to be presented to City Council.
When asked how the golf course will respond to the recent City mandate
which bans certain pesticides, Nathan reported that the golf course is exempt
from this ban. The suggested alternative products are more expensive and
don't work as well.
The board discussed ideas to modify the configuration of the golf course.
There were also questions about trimming trees, which was listed as a threat
in the SWOT analysis. Michele Van Pelt, Patrick Haines, David Baril, and
David Dean will meet to discuss these ideas.
Board Updates
none
Discussion and Action Items for Next Meeting
• Department updates
• First Quarter financial update
• Outdoor Rec Amenities
• Golf Course updates, budget and strategic plan
• Board updates
Adjourn — The meeting was adjourned at 8:01 PM.
Motion: Lisa Norgard
Second: Gene Kutscher
5
