<br /> <br />ONLINE READER'S ADVISORY SERVICE <br /> <br />The Louisville Public Library has introduced <br />BookNews, <br />reader's advisory service provides patrons with access to <br />free electronic newsletters about <br />a wide variety of books via the <br />Library web site-or delivered di- <br />rectly to a personal email address. <br />newsletters include reviews, <br />descriptions, and author commentaries. Links within the <br />newsletters take subscribers directly to the Library's catalog, <br />where they can see if a title is available at the Library-or <br />anywhere in the library system. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ONLINE BOOK CLUBS Too!! <br /> <br />so many books, so little time... For <br />all you busy people, the Library <br />has a new service-an Online Book Club <br />that delivers books electronically. Each <br />day during the week, the Library emails <br />subscribers a portion of a book that usu- <br />ally takes about 5 minutes to read. During that week, sub- <br />scribers are able to read 2-3 chapters from a book. If they <br />like it, they can check it out of the Library. A new book <br />is featured each week. Everyone is encouraged to <br />join with their neighbors and friends to <br />read Homer Hickam's Rocket Boys. <br />Library has purchased extra <br />copies for this countywide book club. <br />memoir of Hickam growing up in <br />the West Virginia coalfields and having <br />his imagination captured by the 1957 <br />launch of Sputnik is enjoyable read- <br />ing for all ages.
