COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE The 2005 Louisville Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the City Council in August of 2005 after the completion of a 16-month process which focused extensively on public involvement. A large investment of time and bud- get was required in 2004-2005 as the City had not conducted effort since 1989. Plan is a policy and planning document that guides many of our community's land use, transportation, open space, and public facility master planning decisions and is based upon a Community Vision. Plan elements include; Land Use, Housing, Economic Development, Transportation, Parks, Recreation and Open Space, Community Character, Plan addresses seven "Opportunity Areas" within the City, which may be subject to development or redevelopment forces in the com- ing 5, 10 or 20 years. 2005 Citywide Comprehensive Plan requires that the Plan be reviewed every two years commencing in 2008. As such, the Planning Department has initiated this year's review. approved scope of work anticipates that this review will with a much more limited commitment of time and budgetary resources than the 2005 anticipates that the Comprehensive Plan review will be completed prior to the end of the year. While limited in scope and resources, public input con- tinues to be critical to the project. During the months ofJune will be meeting with City Boards and Commis- sions as well with other stakeholder groups. Public workshops have been scheduled for June 26 and July 30. Formal public hearings before both the Planning Commission and the City Council will begin in August. Public Notice of these hearings will be posted in City Hall, the Library, the Recreation Center and the Police/Municipal Court building, as well as on the City's web site at www.ci.louisville.co.us. All residents are invited to participate in the Plan Up- date by attending the public workshops and public hearings, through telephone calls, emails, and written correspondence to the Planning Department. You are encouraged to review the updated schedule and other materials available on the project web site at www.ci.louisville.co.us/Planning&Zoning/complan.htm. I:!;>Attended bi-annual ethics training; I:!;>Approved a request for proposals for a consultant to com- plete a market analysis for the Highway 42 Revitalization Area; I:!;>Approved contract with Kay Gaza- way to be special event coordinator for July 4th and the Fall Festival; I:!;>Approved a contract with McMe- namin Associates for a Cemetery Master Plan; I:!;>Approved a supplemental budget appropriation to fund a variety of items including a GIS Assessment, additional trail work, tennis court resurfacing, and computer hardware; I:!;>Approved a Special Review Use to Authorize the Relocation of the Bridge School to 833 South Boulder Road; I:!;>Approval of a professional services contract to Studio No.6 for Design of gateway signs; I:!;>Approval of Resolution No. 15, Series 2008 designating 1116 LaFarge Avenue (the Jannucci House) as an historic landmark; I:!;>Approved a bid award to High Endeavor Outdoor Con- struction for the Pergola Project at the Arboretum; I:!;>Approved an agreement with Economic Planning Systems for the market analysis of the Highway 42 Revitalization Area; I:!;>Approved a license agreement with Louisville Farmer's Mar- ket, LLC for use of the Steinbaugh Pavilion and surrounding area for a farmer's market; I:!;>Approved a business assistance agreement with Main Street Partners, LLC for the development pf 920 - 940 Main Street; Council sponsored a roundtable forum on historic preservation and economic development.
