<br /> <br />SHEDS & PLAY <br />STRUCTURES <br /> <br />Sheds, play structures, and other accessory struc- <br />tures less than 120 square feet do not require a <br />Building Permit but do require a <br />Structure Location Permit. Struc- <br />tures larger than 120 square feet in <br />area, or one that will be attached <br />to a principle structure, require a <br />Building Permit prior to starting <br />your project. You can apply for one <br />from the Building Safety Division <br />in City Hall. <br />Regardless of the size of a pro- <br />posed structure (shed, play structure, or other accessory <br />structure) it must meet the City's Zoning Requirements <br />such as setbacks and building heights. Zoning require- <br />ments vary depending upon the location of the property <br />within the City. <br />For a complete list of zoning requirements and infor- <br />mation regarding the type of permit required for your <br />next shed or play structure project, please contact the <br />Planning Department at planning@ci.louisville.co.us or <br />303.335,4592. <br /> <br /> <br />GREEN BUILDING <br /> <br />The Building Safety Division continues to work <br />on <br />Building Code Board of Appeals and the Building Safety <br />Division along with input from the Louisville Resource <br />Conservation Advisory Board are <br />analyzing many green building <br />options (codes, green points, third <br />party rating systems) to deter- <br />mine which is the best enforceable <br />goal is <br />to bring forth a proposal for City <br />Council consideration this summer. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2009 CITYWIDE <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> <br />An amendment of the City's 2005 Comprehensive <br />Plan was recently adopted by the City Council. <br />Comprehensive Plan (Plan), is a policy and planning <br />document that guides the community's land use, trans- <br />portation, open space, and public facility master planning <br />decisions and is based on a Community Vision State- <br />ment. <br />Plan elements include: Land Use, Housing, Economic <br />Development, Transportation, Parks, Recreation and <br />Open Space, Community Character, Community Ser- <br />vices, and Fiscal Health. A new element, "Sustainable <br />seven <br />"Opportunity Areas': identified in the Plan may be subject <br />to development and redevelopment in the next five, ten, or <br />twenty years. <br />amendment was completed primarily by in-house <br />public involvement <br />process incorporated two public open houses, five public <br />hearings before the Planning Commission, and two public <br />approved amend- <br />ment did not modify the Community Vision Statement <br />but did provide the necessary updates to demographic, <br />economic, and market trends which continue to impact <br />Plan is to be reviewed every four <br />years, with the next review to be completed by the end of <br />December 2012. <br />Plan is available for viewing on the City's web site <br />(www.ci.louisville.co.us) or by visiting the Planning De- <br />partment in City Hall.
