<br />assistance included: Federal loan program such as EIDL or PPP (72.53%, 66), City
<br />grants (47.25%, 43), and information on available resources (38.46%, 35). To inform
<br />potential next steps for the City, the survey inquired about the types of assistances
<br />businesses need currently or anticipate needing to continue mitigating COVID-19
<br />impacts. Respondents most frequently stated need for access to grants or other funding
<br />sources (46.67%, 42), assistance with rent, utilities, or other occupancy costs (28.89%,
<br />26), and no additional assistance needed (23.33%, 21). A component of Louisville's
<br />support has been timely and regular communications targeted at critical business
<br />needs. Respondents to the survey question, "What local information resources has your
<br />business utilized to get information about public health, financial assistance, etc. during
<br />the pandemic?" most frequently stated City e-blasts/newsletters (79.78%, 71), Boulder
<br />County Public Health website (70.79%, 63), and the Colorado Department of Public
<br />Health & Environment website (67.42%, 60).
<br />In 2020, the City launched its Outdoor Dining program, which included the temporary
<br />closure of Main Street for expanded dining as well as a streamlined process to permit
<br />outdoor dining on private property. 9.89%, or 9 respondents, participated in the 2020
<br />Outdoor Dining program. Those who participated were asked to describe the impact of
<br />the expanded outdoor space on their business; almost all (88.89%, 8) said it was a
<br />"very positive" impact.
<br />Demographics
<br />Most respondents to the City's survey (30.23%, 26) have been operating in Louisville for
<br />between 6 and 10 years. The next most frequent group of respondents (20.93%, 18)
<br />have been in business in Louisville for more than 20 years. There was representation
<br />from all of Louisville's business districts to the survey, though 44.19%, or 38
<br />respondents, indicated their business is in Downtown. 58.14% of those taking the
<br />survey (50 respondents) said they were a women -owned business. There was also
<br />representation in the survey respondents from minority -owned businesses, veteran -
<br />owned businesses, and franchise owners.
<br />The largest racial and ethnic category of respondents to the survey was White, with
<br />86.90% or 73 respondents. Respondents were asked to indicate the industry category
<br />of their business. The most respondents, 24.14% or 21, were in the restaurant, food
<br />services, and bars category. The retail industry (20.69%, 18) and professional and
<br />technical services industry (13.79%, 12) were the next most frequent survey
<br />respondents.
<br />The last two questions on the survey related to the financial health of Louisville
<br />businesses. Businesses responded that prior to March 1, 2020, the majority projected
<br />2020 annual sales of $250,000 or less (27.91 %, 24). 20.93% of respondents, or 18,
<br />indicated projected 2020 annual sales between $1M and $4.9M. Subsequently, 26.44%
<br />of respondents, or 23 respondents, said 2021 sales projections have decreased by 50%
<br />or more due to COVID-19.
