Sustainability Advisory Board Agenda
April 21
Deb Fahey (couldn't get unmuted in public comments, so this was provided
during staff comments) - says we didn't approve REC's, but diverted funds to
public works for efficiency updates. Wants to get Louisville up to Gold/Plat from
bronze for a green rating.
6. LSAB Member Updates and Reports:
Mark provided an update on how OSAB was given the power to weigh in on
planning process, vs. LSAB which doesn't have this responsibility. Additional
history was provided, such as LSAB starting as a recycling advisory group in
1988.
Josh providing background on parks/rec board and their advisory duties.
Tiffany provided an update that per a meeting with the mayor, citizens are asking
for more under passes. Deb Fahey said the city wants to do 5 underpasses.
Dan provided an update that he attended a planning commission meeting to
plant the seed that LSAB would like to work together.
Todd shared a concept about a community blog/website-like resource where
residents would write reviews about their experiences with sustainable topics and
products. For example, a Louisville resident might write a review of their battery
powered lawn mower, so that others who are considering a change from their
gas lawn mower could have a local source of information, maybe even try the
product.
7. City Staff Updates
8. Climate Action Discussion
Laura provided an update that her and Tiffany researched Denver's sustainability
tax, which explored electricity taxes, but that never made it to ballot. Then
looked at carbon tax via Xcel, but Xcel threatened to sue. Ended up with a
climate sales tax.
Mark/Seth provided an update that they want to do a survey to Louisville
businesses. Todd suggested they contact Megan pierce for business email
addresses.
Todd & Dan updated that they want to do a citizen survey to gauge levels of
awareness and interest around various climate action topics.
2
