Economic Vitality Committee
Meeting Minutes
May 27, 2021
Mike Kranzdorf, business owner, said that he likes that the Scorecard will be
presented to City Council. Chair Dickinson stated that there could even be
something added to the end of these EVC meetings to add more transparency.
VIII. Staff Updates: Director Pierce provided an updated on the Strategic Plan Item
#1-9, which is the Cost of Doing Business Scorecard and what would be
included in the findings and presentation. Chair Dickinson mentioned that this
would be helpful for everyone to see what it takes to what it takes both here and
in other communities. He asked if it would be helpful to include any incentives
there are or if we could see what common hurdles are in development. Director
Pierce stated that it is hard to know what hurdles there are for other cities and
that the incentives would not appear in this data.
Chair Dickinson mentioned some of this research may have been done before.
Councilmember Leh agreed with Chair Dickinson and said businesses might
like having everything in one place and said other costs might be appropriate to
look at, too. Mayor Tern Maloney said this is good information to have and
asked if we are including use taxes. Director Pierce answered no.
Mike Kranzdorf suggested planning and permit timelines should be added to
this Scorecard because it takes too long. Chair Dickinson agreed that planning
and building review is a part of doing business.
Director Pierce provided an updated on the Strategic Plan Item #1-2, which
says to "develop targeted business marketing and attraction materials to
distribute to business recruitment leads". She showed the group what some of
the new materials look like and what information has been updated since
previous iterations and mentioned more materials are planned.
IX. Current Articles: None.
X. Next Meeting: The next regular meeting will be June 18, 2021 @ 1:30 PM.
XI. Adjourn: The meeting adjourned at 3:17 PM.
Agenda Packet P. 6
