SUBJECT: SALES TAX REPORTS FOR THE MONTH & QUARTER ENDED JUNE <br />30, 2021 <br />DATE: AUGUST 23, 2021 PAGE 2 OF 3 <br />Consumer use tax revenue for June 2021 decreased 5.7% from June 2020, and YTD <br />revenue is currently 2.4% above YTD 2020. Consumer use tax is 16.8% above budget. <br />The monthly and year-to-date sales tax revenue by area reports represent the YTD retail <br />health of various quadrants of the City. These reports include all vendors remitting tax to <br />the City. <br />The Monthly Revenue by Area sales tax report for June 2021 indicates increases in all <br />areas, except for South Boulder Road and Centennial Valley. <br />The increase for Outside City is in the technology (computer hardware & software) and <br />furniture sectors. While the decrease in South Boulder Road and Centennial Valley are in <br />the grocery and technology sectors. <br />The Quarterly Revenue by Area sales tax report through second quarter 2021 is a one -page <br />snapshot for major areas in the City. The original (13) sectors have been combined into (5) <br />major areas, McCaslin/Western, CTC/Eastern, South Boulder Rd/Northern, <br />Downtown/Central and Outside City. <br />Through Q-2, all areas have increased with the exception of South Boulder Road. This is <br />reflective of the decline in grocery. <br />The second Quarterly Revenue by Area sales tax report through Q-2 2021 provides a more <br />granular look at individual areas of the City. All areas have increased or remained constant <br />compared to Q-2 2020 with the exception of South Boulder Road and Centennial Valley. <br />The decrease noted in South Boulder Road and Centennial Valley are in the grocery and <br />technology sectors. <br />The monthly and year-to-date sales tax revenue by industry reports represent the retail <br />health of individual industry sectors of the City. These reports include all vendors remitting <br />tax to the City. <br />The Monthly Revenue by Industry report for June 2021 indicates gains for the industries <br />Manufacturing, Furniture, Wholesale, Agriculture, Services and Food/Beverage. The <br />industries General Merchandise, Building Materials/Construction, Grocery, and <br />Communications/Utilities, all declined for the month of June 2021. <br />The first Quarterly Revenue by Industry sales tax report through second quarter 2021 <br />represents (13) industry sectors that have been grouped into (7) major categories and are <br />color -coded. <br />FINANCE COMMITTEE COMMUNICATION <br />
