LCloty0f <br />Louisville <br />City Manager's Office <br />Phase 1 Building Code Update Overview <br />Staff will go to Council on September 7t" for initial direction and discussion on the 2021 adoption and <br />amendments, which include the formal adoption of solar -ready zone appendices (residential and commercial), <br />electric vehicle infrastructure requirements (residential and commercial), and considerations to make <br />conversion from gas equipment and appliances to electric easier and less cost -prohibitive (residential and <br />commercial). The update amends the 2021 IECC to integrate the Prescriptive Energy and Design Criteria and <br />proposed updates to the criteria, which reinforces the prescriptive pathway for residential and commercial. <br />The 2021 IECC changes from 2018 cover a wide range of measures and improve the code by additional efficiency <br />and clarifying requirements. <br />Next Steps <br />Staff seeks input and discussion on the first phase of the building code update. <br />
