Director
Nemechek reviewed old emails - the original plan was to have the Library
Foundation pay for repair. Need to see if the foundation remembers/is up for paying
for a handyperson to repair/rebuild. President Seyle will bring this up at the
foundation meeting next week. Director Nemechek will email them in advance.
VII. New Business
A. DEI Policy Review
• Youth services - will review at the next meeting when the youth services
supervisor joins.
• Volunteer policy - needs a lot of work, and needs to go through HR and city
attorney before the board can review.
• No action or review needed by the board at this meeting.
B. Introduction: Lisa Merly, Circulation Supervisor
• Been at the library 21 years, makes sure the whole circulation process works for
patrons and community.
• Circulation department responsible for all account maintenance,
checking/checking out, pulling holds, moving books between libraries (& new
lockers in Superior), plus helps with library statistics and library software system
[Sierra].
• Wants patrons to feel welcome at the library, big focus on customer service as
the circulation desk is the first desk you see when you enter the library.
• The board expressed appreciation for all the circulation department does.
Vill. Ongoing Business
A. Superior Board of Trustees update (L. Skladzinski)
• Community center opened formally on the 4th of July. Also going to also start having library programming in the
community center (storytime on Tuesdays, a watercolor class is in the works).
B. Library Foundation liaison report (S. Nemechek)
• The foundation is working on updating bylaws.
• Financial update: - $612,000 in Vanguard account
• Fundraising: first book sale in on a Saturday in June, made $271.75
o Should Library trustees be working the book fair? President Seyle to
confirm.
IX. Director's Report (S. Nemechek)
• Library services - getting back to normal.
• Boardroom/meeting room will be schedulable starting on July 20th.
• Louisville City Council is going to decide at the meeting next week when Boards
