Louisville Public Library <br />Youth Services Division <br />Revised and re -adopted by the Louisville Public Library Board of Trustees, XXXX, 2021. <br />Youth Services staff strives to create a welcoming, inclusive, and accepting environment for <br />youth and families regardless of background or abilities. If there's anything we could do to <br />improve our environment for you and your family (including possible accommodations, <br />programming suggestions, or book purchase suggestions), please reach out to a youth services <br />staff member to share your feedback. <br />Use of the Children's Area and Teen Loft <br />The Children's area (grades 6 and younger) and The Teen Loft (grades 6-12) <br />designed to foster an environment where Children, Teens, and Families fe 1 <br />Adults without children in their charge may be asked to use other areas <br />computers in the Children's area are intended for the use of children <br />accompanying them. <br />The entire collection is open to all patrons. This means that a parent, guardian, or <br />caregiver cannot access information o child's records unless the child is physically present <br />or the parent/guardian/caregiv has th i 's Library card or account number. The owner of a <br />Library card may designate '-her person to pick up items they have placed on hold. A parent <br />can also name an alternaf pe to pick up holds if they do so in the child's presence. <br />Keeping Children Sa <br />The Children's Se D ion is committed to serving children; however, staff members <br />cannot superv' e c arents and caregivers are reminded that the Library is a public <br />building, st da?dsthe <br />afety practices should be followed. In order to provide for the general <br />welfare o benefit of all people using the Library, children under the age of nine <br />must o anied by a responsible caregiver. <br />for the behavior of their children while using the Library. Children nine <br />the Library independently should not be left for long periods and should know <br />how to reach a caregiver. <br />If a child is unattended at closing, staff will attempt to contact their parents by telephone. If a <br />caregiver cannot be reached within 20 minutes, staff will contact the Louisville Police <br />Department.
