City Council
Meeting Minutes
August 24, 2021
Mayor Stolzmann asked if the additional parking on the site is needed. Hassan stated the
area with the additional parking is also used for truck access to loading docks and is
needed for the turning access. If that area is not used for the trucks it can be used for
parking. The use will depend on the tenants using the building.
Councilmember Fahey asked if additional landscaping could be included to shade the
blacktop. Hassan stated the proposal does meet the landscape requirements including
shade and a buffer to the blacktop.
Mayor Pro Tern Maloney stated this is the intended use for lots in this area and he
supports it.
MOTION: Mayor Pro Tern Maloney to approve Resolution No. 57; Councilmember
Dickinson seconded.
Mayor Stolzmann stated the building meets the IDDSG. Councilmember Leh agreed the
proposal meets the criteria.
VOTE: Motion passed by unanimous roll call vote.
RESOLUTION NO. 58, SERIES 2021 — A RESOLUTION APPROVING A PLANNED
UNIT DEVELOPMENT TO ALLOW FOR A MURAL ON AN INDUSTRIALLY ZONED
PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1501 EMPIRE ROAD continued from 8117121
Mayor Stolzmann introduced the item and asked for any disclosures. Seeing none she
opened the public hearing. Mayor Stolzmann noted the City owns this building.
Planner Bauer stated the site has an existing, non -confirming sign that was installed
without a permit. The applicant is proposing to install a code compliant sign separate from
the mural and redesign of the existing sign to remove all commercial advertising
language.
The applicant requests approval of a mural that would be the same size and location as
the existing large wall sign that was installed without a permit. The mural would be
oriented toward Empire Road with a total area of 542.5 sq. ft.
Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
Public Comments — None.
MOTION: Mayor Pro Tern Maloney moved to approve Resolution No. 58; Councilmember
Dickinson.
VOTE: Motion passed by unanimous roll call vote.
