Cottonwood Park is Getting a New Playground
The City of Louisville Parks Department is excited to announce that the City is preparing to install a new
play structure in Cottonwood Park.
Staff submitted a request for proposals (RFP) on June 8 and selected Star Playgrounds for the
design/build team. The theme of the playground is "Nature Play." The City is now looking for public
input to review concepts and help choose what equipment will be featured in this space.
Star Playgrounds has put together three different design concepts for public input, and citizens are
encouraged to provide their feedback in one of the following ways:
1. Virtual Parks & Public Landscaping Board (PPLAB) Meeting I Thursday, October 7 at 7 PM
This meeting will be held electronically. Click here for link.
2. In -Person Meeting at Cottonwood Park I Saturday, October 9 from 1 PM — 3 PM
3. Online Survey I Survey open from Saturday, October 9- Saturday, October 23
Visit https://www.engagelouisvilleco.org/ to take the survey.
The City maintains 14 playgrounds, many of which were built 20-25 years ago. In 2018 the City began
renovating playgrounds to bring equipment up to date and meet current ADA standards. The first
playground to be renovated was at Heritage Park in 2018, followed by Keith Helart and Elephant Park in
2020. Cottonwood Park is the fourth play structure to be replaced. Over the next several years, with City
Council approval and budget availability, the City plans to continue replacing play structures around
Louisville.
We are looking forward to having yet another new playground in Louisville.
For more information, contact project manager Allan Gill at allang@louisvilleco.gov.
6i
