Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
7 December 2020
Klemme stated that shingles were "substantially inadequate" if installed correctly.
Dunlap asked if the criteria would have been applicable when the Certificate was initially
approved.
Ritchie replied that there was nothing to say that the criteria could not be applied tonight, even
though it was ideal to address it in the original approval discussion.
Parris stated that while she was not happy to be in this situation, the alteration was
detrimental to the integrity of the house and the front portion was integral to the integrity. The
Commission was tasked with looking at the criteria and addressing architectural integrity, and
with those considerations, reversal was the only option.
Klemme moved to approve Resolution 29 as drafted by staff. Keller seconded. Motion approved
unanimously by roll call vote.
Haley stated that this was an unfortunate direction for a landmark to go and noted that a lot of
great work had been done on the house. She stated that the Preservation Fund was already
generous and was supported by taxpayer money. She stated that it was not an easy choice for
anyone and the situation was not ideal.
ITEMS FROM STAFF & UPDATES FROM COMMISSION MEMBERS
Ritchie stated that there were two items noticed for the December 21st meeting. She added that
Commissioner Keller was reappointed and that a new commissioner had been approved
approved to fill Commissioner Parris's seat.
Dunlap, Chair Haley, and Director Zuccaro discussed updates on the coloring book project.
Dunlap noted that he thought the City Manager might be able to approve finances for the project
and Zuccaro noted that there were different options for projects under $10,000. Haley stated
that she thought the Commission was comfortable with Director Zuccaro's process for now.
DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR DECEMBER 21st
• Demolition Language Update
• HSA Requirement Update
Adjourn
Klemme motioned to adjourn and Parris seconded. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
Meeting adjourned at 7:47 PM.
5
