Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />September 18, 2017 <br />Page 2of4 <br />Staff recommends property eligible for land marking based on the goals of architectural <br />significance, and integrity. Staff recommends naming it the Marriott house, original owner. <br />Alterations Certificate: Staff recommended Alteration Certificate for modest changes —replace <br />knob and tube wiring, re -enforce foundation, remove non original windows, replace siding and <br />regrading. Staff presented visuals of centering windows. Addition is proposed for rear of house <br />with visual of floor plan presented. Staff recommends this will add to period appropriated view, <br />with change in siding. Staff recommends approval of Altercations Certificate with change in in <br />siding. Staff has talked to applicants in regards to siding. <br />New Construction Grant: Staff presented a new construction grant. This is the first applicant to <br />apply for this grant. Applicant provided quotes needed to be done --siding, windows, foundation, <br />floor structure, site grading, and wiring, for a total of $34,867. Because this is a matching grant <br />the request is for $17,433.50. Work must fall into preservation, rehabilitation and restoration and <br />staff believes the work does fall into the required categories. Staff reminded board the wording <br />of the new construction grant, Res. No. 17Series 2019. Staff reviewed FAR which is far below <br />recommended. Staff recommends approval of applicant's grant request of matching grant of <br />$17433.50 for preservation and restoration work to the historic structure and a $15,000 New <br />Construction Grant. <br />To review staff recommends: <br />Landmarking <br />Staff Recommends approval of Res 6. Series 2020 <br />Marriott House <br />Alteration Certificate <br />Staff recommends approval of Res 07, Series2020 <br />New Construction Grant <br />Staff recommends approval of Res. 08, Series 2020 <br />$37,4330. total grant. <br />Staff questions: <br />Klemme asked if at some point if there will be a point to see where windows once were. Staff <br />unable to answer due to 2015 HAS. Haley included, will most likely be able to see after siding <br />removed. <br />Klemme asked if siding would be the same. Staff commented owners are open to a change. <br />Applicant comments: <br />Karin Medina Keller, 833 Jefferson Ave, Louisville, CO: <br />Medina -Keller asked if i.e., siding or foundation are worse than thought, can the grant be <br />extended. Staff stated that the additional funding is available. Haley asked if HSA in 2015 <br />showed problems. Medina -Keller stated it is listed on HSA. Haley stated the board, today, has a <br />structural engineer evaluate the property and welcomes her to come back to the commission if <br />needed. Medina- Keller addressed the siding saying siding will be distinguished with batten <br />board. Haley asked about windows. Medina -Keller stated the have not found the headers yet. <br />Klemme asked if owner is open to the type of siding found. Medina -Keller is open to anything. <br />Haley stated she is still trying to look for the original windows, and commented it's great the <br />applicant is trying to take back the windows and asked her to stand by with in the Zoom <br />meeting. <br />Commission Discussion: <br />2 <br />
